Ubisoft has canceled the Nintendo Switch version of the snowboarding and skiing extreme sports game Steep. The cancellation came quietly, via a message to a fan on Twitter.
Explaining the cancellation, Ubisoft said (via Gamasutra), “We are wholly dedicated to supporting the live game, and made the decision to stop Steep development on the Nintendo Switch platform to focus on bringing new live content and challenges to Steep players instead.”

Steep launched in December 2016 and has seen a number of updates over time that added new content, while the big expansion Road to the Olympics was released in December 2017. The game exceeded Ubisoft’s sales expectations, though the company never said what it was projecting the game to sell or how many copies it’s moved to date.
The Switch version of Steep was announced in January 2017, at which time Ubisoft also confirmed that the Alaska DLC would come to Nintendo’s hybrid console. That’s all thrown out the window now as the game has been scrapped for Switch. The Steep page on Nintendo’s website has been taken down as well.
